These are my personal favorite books/audiobooks (at this time and in no particular order) and some of the most inspiring books ever written.
The GLOBAL SOVEREIGN’S HANDBOOK by Johnny Liberty
I could write a lil schpeel on Johnny Liberty here, but you’d be better off just reading the article on here about him and what a Sovereign is.
THE FAT OF THE LAND by Viljalmur Stefansson.
When people are curious about my diet, I often reccomend people this book. Viljalmur Stefansson was an Icelandic American Arctic explorer and ethnologist. While his expeditions weren’t always so successful, he was right on point with diet. He lived with the Inuit who ate a meat diet 90% of the year before the western world of ideas infected them and discovered humans can live perfectly on a diet of only meat. Having done so himself on an expedition for four years in the arctic and again under scientific scrutiny. It is without a doubt that what he has to say about diet is correct, and nobody wants you to actually know this.
THE BEAR’S WORDS OF WISDOM by Owsley “The Bear” Stanley (FREE PDF)
To follow The Fat of the Land. is Owsley “The Bear” Stanley’s: The Bear’s Words of Wisdom. The Bear is a very interesting figure, tragic he died in a random car crash because I truly feel like he would have been a force to reckoned with in the world today. Owsley was a ballerina, sound engineer for the Grateful dead (designed their famous Wall of Sound), made and distributed LSD, as well as touted the idea that we humans are obligate carnivores. One day, he decided to make a post on a forum called “Low Carber”, (newer archive page if needed) that’s essentially what is contained within The Bear’s Words of Wisdom. Enjoy!
THE EASY WAY TO STOP SMOKING by Allen Carr
I was an on and off smoker for six years. I thought I did good by picking up the Juul/e-cigs three years ago but it pulled me in under its spell even more in that form. I’ve since learned nicotine is a poison no matter what form it is in. After six years of smoking (I was at the point where I had four e-cigs in my mouth at the same time when I stopped) I bought his audiobook and by the end of it, it was like someone had snapped their fingers and snapped me out of my nicotine induced trance. I have no hate or disdain for smokers, hell I get it, I was right there with you. If you are feeling called to stop smoking/vaping, or think you’ll ever want to quit then I highly encourage you to read/listen to this book. After 20 years Allen Carr’s methods have a 90% success rate. The best part? Carr actually encourages you to keep smoking until you are finished with the program. So worst case if you listen to this book, you have nothing to lose.
THE 4-HOUR WORKWEEK by Timothy Ferriss
I’m not sure I need to say anything about Timothy Ferriss, if you’re here you probably know about him. He is an incredible man who has done incredible things with his time on Earth so far. This book is about breaking free from the 9 to 5 jive and becoming your own person. If you hate being under someone else’s thumb and want to work as little as possible in your life, this book is for you. If you want inspiration of what kind of life you can lead, check him out and what he’s done. Whatever he says, I listen to.
NEVER SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE by Chris Voss
Chris Voss is an American businessman, author, professor, former FBI hostage negotiator, and the CEO of The Black Swan Group Ltd. This is effectively THE book on negotiation and how to always get what you want without compromising. Everybody in life wants something, it would do you well to read this so you’re getting what you want. Chris Voss writes at a very entertaining and easy to read level all while explaining concepts and retelling REAL stories from successful negotiations with terrorists to his own family. If you’re in it to win it, you need to read this book.
HOW TO MASTER THE ART OF SELLING by Tom Hopkins
This book, was the first book I read when my mindset changed from “just cruising” to wanting to be the very first I can be. When I was in school I worked as a manager of a store based on sales commission, after reading this book I doubled sales and more as time went on. Tom Hopkins has sold just about everything under the sun and has made selling his whole life. Don’t believe me? He sold 365 houses in one year as a challenge to himself. Sales people always get a bad wrap, but what I love best about Tom Hopkins is that he’s not just a salesman trying to make a quick buck– he’s a salesman who is just trying to help people find exactly what they need for their own happiness; he doesn’t force anything on anyone he finds out their needs and fulfills them.; Tom Hopkins lives his life in full color.
HOW TO DIE by Seneca
Seneca is one of the authorities on Stoicism. He was a philosopher, scholar, and advisor to the Roman Emperor Nero. Seneca definitely isn’t the life of the party, in fact most people these days would call him a party pooper; I would call Seneca a realist. We and everyone are going to die one day my friend. You may not find it pretty but it is definitely something you must prepare yourself for. Death is the final frontier and why not face/come to terms with it now rather than later?
THE POSTMORTAL by Drew Magary
This is the only fiction book on the list and boy is it a doozy. It’s very easy to read but it sets up an interesting story on the difficult and unknown subject of what would happen to humanity should we conquer our major fear as a species by curing death. Magary has managed to imagine the ENTIRETY of the future should we ever be unfortunate enough to develop a cure for mortality and it’s enough to give anyone who wants it a second thought about what they wish for. Check this out and realize why we shouldn’t ever try to cure death.
BEYOND HUMAN by Eva Herald
Herald explores the transformative power of science, medicine, and society in this book. She sees a future where everything from a whole limb to an eye can be replaced. It’s a crazy future to think about, but one we all need to be aware of. Humans are fighting for life, but when does the integration of technology meant to help us, take us away from who we are as humans? Find out in this book
PEAK: SECRETS FROM THE NEW SCIENCE OF EXPERTISE by Anders Ericsson and Robert Pool
Ever wanted to know what really makes someone an expert at their skill/profession? Who doesn’t want to be the best? Who doesn’t want to get better? Ever wanted to become an expert yourself? This is the book to read. You’ll be glad to know that nobody is born an expert. With the right practice and discipline anyone can become an expert, this book will tell you exactly what it takes.
MEDITATIONS by Marcus Aruelius
For those unfamiliar, Meditations is the private thoughts of the world’s most powerful man giving advice to himself on how to make good on the responsibilities and obligations of his positions. Trained in Stoic philosophy, Marcus Aurelius stopped almost every night to practice a series of spiritual exercises designed to make him humble, patient, empathetic, generous, and strong in the face of his obstacles. Meditations is a reliable book because it was written privately and was Marcus’ own guide. The only agenda he had in writing it was having it to serve as his own reminder in being a good person and successful leader. This book is easy to read and there is something in it for everyone.
